About
Katelyn (Kat) Walsh (they/them/theirs) is a multimedia artist and activist from Central New Jersey. They graduated from Ithaca College in May 2019 with their B.F.A in Film, Photography, and Visual Arts with a minor in International Politics - earning their degree in three years. Walsh is the recipient of many accolades for both their artwork and work in community engagement, including the Chávez/Lorde Social Justice Award, given to students of color who have demonstrated a strong dedication to social change for the Ithaca College and local community through various platforms, projects, or initiatives. They are also a part of the first group of students ever to receive the Helen Gurley Brown Fellowship (funded by The Pussycat Foundation), which provides selected students with a one year paid contract to work full-time for a non-profit organization. Currently, Walsh works full-time as the Social Media Coordinator for Black Public Media. As the youngest staff member at the organization, they are responsible for marketing and engagement across all of BPM’s social media platforms.
